Life: Its Aim

Well, finally I am writing a blog article. With Vacations going on and huge amount of time to kill I thought It would be better to write up something instead. So, what should I write? People write about their views on current affairs, life, love etc.

As this is my first blog I want to keep it simple and will avoid any heavy debatable topic. Anyway my favorite topic is Life and therefore I should write about it. Life is a very deep topic and the part of it which fascinates me the most is the aim of the life? In almost every religion, be it Hinduism, Christianity or Islam, the aim of every life is defined to seek enlightenment and Moksha. Hinduism defines a way of living which can help an individual to choose righteous path that can lead to Moksha, i.e release from the cycle of death and rebirth. If we analyze this aim more scientifically then there is a contradiction as science permit only falsify theories and concepts, and rebirth is a concept which can not be falsify. So if we have to set the aim of life " scientifically" we have to forget the concept of death and rebirth.

But if there is no rebirth than how can one account for the right and wrong deeds in his life. This lead us to the question what is right and wrong? This question is very relative and we have to search a for a axiom on which basis we can decide if our action is right or wrong. As we are talking about life this axiom should also deal with life and death. We should also not talk about life after death in the axiom. This lead us to a simple axiom define in the following two sentences:

1. Life's aim is to achieve immortality.
2. Any action which helps in achieving immortality can be said right and otherwise wrong.

But the result of this axiom does not fit to our prospective of right or wrong. Because it allows us to work only in our interest and neglect any other thing. It allows us to kill someone even if he is troubling us in the least way.

A much more powerful axiom which easily fit our sense of right and wrong can be :

1. Our life aim is to work for achieving immortality for humanity.
2. Any action which helps in achieving immortality for humanity can be said right and otherwise wrong.

This notion of right and wrong does not allow a being to work only in his interest rather he has to consider whether his action are benefiting the humanity or not. If we consider previous example then this axiom does not allow to kill other person for little trouble that he is causing us as he can be helpful in making humanity immortal.

So, from our axiom of right and wrong things it can be deduce that the aim of each life should be to work for achieving immortality for humanity. To be continued ...
